A new approach to tattoo removal is IPL. Similar to a Laser,
Intense Pulsed Light is a minimally invasive technique that uses
high intensity light. However, the light isn't focused in a monochromatic
beam, but in a broad spectrum field. Some reports indicated it
is as effective as lasers and is less painful than laser removal.
The skin is first treated with a cooling gel, and then rapid bursts
of light are applied with an IPL wand. Treatments are spaced 2
weeks to a month apart. You should be able to see results after
the first or second session.

Shown in the picture is a Combo Diode Laser and Intense Pulsed
Light System that sells for about $6k. It produces both focused
laser light and broad based light with a pulses lasting a tenth
of a second. The advantage of the system is that ink colors that
don't respond well to Laser are effectively removed with IPL.
